When the old siding comes off, the wall cavities are open from the outside. That is the cheapest moment the house will ever have to pull out tired batts and add real R-value without touching a single interior wall.

Why do it during re-siding
Siding replacement exposes every stud bay on the wall. Insulating from the outside at that point means no drywall removal, no interior patching and no repainting inside. The house stays livable while the work happens on the exterior.
Out with the old batts
Older homes often have thin, sagging or gapped fiberglass batts, or none at all. We remove and haul off the old insulation, clean the cavities and check for moisture damage before anything new goes in.
Foam the cavities, then close it up
Open-cell spray foam fills each cavity edge to edge and seals around wiring, boxes and the new window rough openings, so the wall gets an air seal along with the added R-value. Closed-cell foam or rock wool can be used where the wall design calls for it, and foil-faced rigid board is installed where a section needs a continuous layer. The siding crew then installs sheathing repairs, weather barrier and new siding over the top.
Coordinated with the siding schedule
Insulation has to fit between demo and the new siding without holding up the job. We work directly with the siding contractor, including our sister company Stealth Painting & Exteriors, so the walls are insulated and ready for wrap the same week they are opened.
What the bid covers
- Removal and haul-off of old wall insulation
- Cavity inspection for moisture, rot or pest damage
- Open-cell or closed-cell foam, or rock wool, in exposed cavities
- Sealing around windows, wiring and penetrations
- Foil-faced rigid board where scoped
- Trimming flush with studs, ready for sheathing and wrap
- Cleanup of trimmings and debris
Questions about exterior insulation retrofit
Do you have to open my interior walls?
No. During a re-side the wall is opened from the outside, so the interior drywall and paint stay untouched.
Can you work with my siding contractor?
Yes. We schedule the insulation between siding demo and wrap so the siding crew is not held up. If you need siding too, our sister company Stealth Painting & Exteriors installs James Hardie siding.
